The Constitution and laws of the UnitedStates give many rights to both citizensand non-citizens living in the UnitedStates. However, some rights are only forcitizens, such as:
Voting. Only U.S. citizens can votein Federal elections. Most Statesalso restrict the right to vote, in mostelections, to U.S. citizens.
Bringing family members to theUnited States. Citizens generallyget prioritywhen petitioning to bringfamily members permanently to thiscountry.
